Want more? Need some support and a little "push"? I'd love to help! For yoga teachers - new and established as well as serious practitioners.

A tried and true, interactive mentorship in its sixth year that offers feedback and support to refine your skills, bolster your confidence and business savvy, and pushes your growth into a stronger teacher.

FOR YOGA TEACHERS - NEW AND ESTABLISHED

Coming out of a training? A general YTT or a specialized one (Yoga4Athletes, other?)

There can be a tricky spot between finishing a training (or multiple trainings!) – and actually jumping into teaching. So much learning and information to process. So many questions left unanswered. So many insecurities or unknowns left to hash through. So hard to become a teacher without more guidance, expertise, mentoring, and even community support.

Been teaching a while?

Need some additional expert guidance, new inspiration, and a strategic refresh?

The success of this mentorship program is that it supports your individual style, goals and objectives with customized feedback to you personally, one on one.

TUNE's Leslee offers depth of perspective, deep rooted insight from a combination of years of first hand experience in a lifetime of being an athlete and a yogi, teaching yoga for almost two decades, and her fun and effective intellectual curiosity blended with best practices, scientific research, and a knack for continued questioning of patterns and issues. She fosters a being open to new findings and perspectives.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

You can take a session as a stand-alone unit but that’s priced more premium AND we encourage you to sign up for the package of multiple sessions to get the full benefit of mentorship over a longer period of time.

Together we will nail down some specific areas YOU want to address, such as:

  • ASANA PRACTICE and TEACHING

    • Refining alignment in your own body and poses - and understand why those refinements are so important - so you can accurately demonstrate what you're teaching and practicing

    • Continuing to learn precision in terminology and a broader language of benefits to include in classes

    • Continue to delve into anatomy topics to gain confidence in teaching - and sharing - in your authentic voice

    • Continuing to cultivate an ability to “see through the pose” and sharpening observations of students even as they enter/leave the room and what is being presented on the mat

    • Planning class for what you what and are getting hired to teach - athletes, vinyasa, alignment, gentle/restorative, 1:1 sessions, workshops, events, you name it!

    • Skillful sequencing - even micro-sequencing - within your class plan from beginning to end and the importance of transitions and intentionality

  • SPECIAL POPULATIONS like ATHLETES OR OTHERS

    • Whether honing athlete approaches or general yoga class teaching, delving further into smart and creative prop use and great pose modifications

    • Yoga4Athletes has UNIQUE challenges - let’s brainstorm!

    • How to get work; how much to charge; how to navigate tough challenges

  • BRANDING and MARKETING HELP (it’s NOT intuitive)

    • Branding and marketing advice (from Leslee who successfully spent over 2 decades in strategic branding with Fortune 50 Clients) and ways to grow your business creatively and efficiently

  • SHADOW LESLEE

    • You may also have the opportunity to assist Leslee with an athlete team, a private Client, a class, workshop, or training module as interest and schedules allow

JUST QUICK, A FEW GENERAL TIPS WE CAN WORK ON TOGETHER - NOT JUST NEW BUT REFINING

  1. KEEP LEARNING and GROWING

o   Keep practicing and exploring your own body and cues

o   Learn by watching more bodies move – of course in yoga classes but also in public, sports, etc.

o   Discover / hone / refine your style and preferences

o   Build teaching hours that lead to (even more) opportunities

2. SOME MARKETING IDEAS WE CAN REVIEW - SO MUCH TO CONSIDER

o   Have a good headshot (or two)

o   Have a “action” shot or two – can be in a pose but also in meditation or assisting, something showing you doing what you’re marketing

o   Write your yoga bio / overview – not too short, not too long; approx. 3-5 sentences about your training, style, and why you teach)

o   Create a yoga teacher resume – longer than a bio – with trainings, workshops, teaching experience, other relevant skills

o   Assess your social media, and build a simple website – consider your e-commerce, scheduling software, etc.

o   Prepare a teaching demo for “auditioning” or speaking to prospects

o   Look at a WIDE range of places; think out of the box - e.g. ATHLETES, corproate, gyms, senior centers, etc., etc

3. LOOKING TO START TEACHING? JUST ONE APPROACH = STUDIOS

o   Connect with studio owners

o   What to expect for a studio gig

  • Pay rates - $35-$50/class; sometimes with possible attendance bonuses

  • Signing contracts – be cautious; don’t need to be exclusive unless a great deal

  • Training on studio software (MindBody, Tula, Momence, etc.)

  • Sub lists vs assigned classes vs private work

  • Studio policies – arrival, subbing, ancillary duties, etc.

  • Studio values – trauma, assisting, customer service, etc.

4. LESLEE IS YOUR CHEERLEADER / ONGOING ENCOURAGEMENT

o   Even as a new teacher, you have a lot to offer! Be you and be good at what you do!

o   Be confident in your teaching (keep things simple helps here; and be prepared). Be radically consistent.

  • For confidence, follow your curiosity, not your fear! Confidence comes from mastery; mastery comes from repetition; repetition comes from interest.

o   Always charge for your offerings (even if that’s donation-based; 2 for 1; let’s brainstorm pricing strategies!)
