SERIES OVERVIEW
Back by popular demand and a TUNE signature offering. We spend a little time together once a month on specific topics, exploring them across 3 key pillars:
Movement explorations are the cornerstone where we play with traditional and non-traditional yoga poses, consider structural alignment, functional movement, and find linear and non-linear expression that deepens somatic response and biointelligence
Anatomy in action is TUNE’s specialty, bringing anatomical education, considerations, and lessons on specific structures that illuminates the exploration
Practical application integrates these workshop concepts with recommendations on application to your daily life, yoga practice, activities and sports, and overall well-being

Dates and topics as follows:
September 23: PSOAS SURRENDER
It makes sense to start with the psoas - a most influential muscle in the body, the primary hip flexor and a key core stabilizer. Releasing deep-seated tension while understanding its function and role on posture, movement, nervous system, emotions, and more. The opening of the series will also encourage you to recognize the difference between good challenge and bad strain and how staying connected to that principle will serve throughout all the Anatomy in Action explorations.October 14: RIB CAGE MECHANICS / BREATH
Next up, we move up from the top of the psoas where it co-mingles with the diaphragm (our primary breathing apparatus). Core canister alignment from this respiratory diaphragm and it’s relationship with the lower pelvic diaphragm (aka pelvic floor) and side body structure all have huge implications on pose alignment, muscle patterning and engagement even into arms and legs, as well as the quality of our breath - which ultimately fascinates the pose, the movement, and your life.November 18: BOLDER SHOULDERS
Making our way up the core canister to the shoulder girdle. This very mobile joint can be misunderstood and many times wrongly or ineffectively cued and positioned. We will explore healthy ranges and what restricts that and why with solutions offered. Anatomy overview will highlight individuality and the need for pose variations.December 16: HIP + HAMSTRING REFRAME
A common request in yoga classes, and perennial problem areas for so many practitioners, athletes and movers, we take a deeper dive into the important lumbo-pelvic-hip region. We’ll explore how different we are human to human in bone structure, and implications on personal practice and performance. Finding active release requires a “less is more” mentality to build pose structure from the ground up; and hamstring restrictions curtail optimal full body movement which is also a key focal area here.January 13: THE BIG TOE (say, wha?!)
Yes! The role of the big toe can’t be understated! What an interesting and worthwhile topic to explore, hopefully just sparking more interest in you to be aware and activating this teeny yet mighty appendage. Part of the “deep front line” of the body’s fascial web (which includes the psoas too!), the big toe offers 80-85% of the stability of the foot, and impacts stability through the entire body. (Pedicure not required but suggested…hahahaha)February 10: CONNECTING THE DOTS
We close the series with a wholistic view of the body as a single unit, not disparate parts. Recent and ongoing research on fascia alone catapult this concept of integration. We will dip our toe (ha!) into this huge topic and get more introduced to the myofascial lines pervasive across the whole body. Wow, super interesting.
